The world of sound is all around us. It happens quietly and loudly, in stereo and surround sound. Having a cochlear implant in one ear can help provide a connection to this sound. And having two cochlear implants – one for each ear – may be one more step toward providing the kind of full-world sound, communication and interaction that nature intended. Nucleus Moments
My family loves to ski. We tried many times last year to get Jake involved. He was always very uncomfortable and awkward on skis. He required personal contact at all times, and would panic if we let go of him. We went skiing the Friday after Thanksgiving. He was skiing by himself after two runs, and learned how to stop and turn all in one day. We strongly believe that his comfort level increased tremendously with the second implant because of improved balance and better sense of his environment! We were so excited, and so was he. Yeah!
