Cochlear Celebration 2007
Celebration 2007 in San Antonio, Texas was another Celebration event to remember. Special guests at the event included the invntor of the Nucleus Cochlear Implant, Professor Graeme Clark; Cochlear Chief Scientist and first employee, Jim Patrick; and the first cochlear implant recipient Rod Saunders. They talked about the history behind the development of the cochlear implant, how far the technology has come, and the potential for the future.

Dear Nucleus Recipients and Family,
The 2007 Cochlear™ Celebration in San Antonio was a most moving experience for Margaret and me. It was heartwarming and encouraging to learn first-hand what a difference the implant has made in the lives of so
many. We feel part of a large family all looking after each other. It has been a wonderful team effort between scientists, clinicians and the key partner, Cochlear.
We hope that the occasion will have inspired many to go back home to let others know what this can do for their lives. Many do not realize the difficulties experienced by someone with a severe hearing loss. Once again, our thanks for your hospitality and the generous and warm welcome.
Kind regards, Graeme Clark

Professor Graeme Clark made the cochlear implant a reality by drawing from his own personal experiences. His story is one of true dedication and inspiration.
