Ask Linn: hints and tips for Nucleus recipients
Do you have a question about your Nucleus implant and don't know who to ask? Sometimes all it takes is the first-hand experience of another cochlear implant recipient. We are pleased to introduce a regular feature, Ask Linn to give you an easy way to ask questions that might also help other Nucleus users.
Linn Tearney has had her Nucleus 22 implant for over 13 years. She works for Cochlear Americas as a Consumer Services Specialist where she supports current Nucleus users and provides information and guidance for those considering a cochlear implant. Linn, who was profoundly deafened after contracting meningitis, recounts her first CI moment.
“It was actually at my initial activation. I had been deaf for over 10 years and I had not heard my son Jake’s voice since he was 4 years old. He was then 14 and it was a bitter sweet moment because his voice had changed and instead of a little 4 year old, he sounded like a grown man. It was a moment that I’ll never forget!”
Questions submitted to Ask Linn can be about anything related to your cochlear implant. If you have a question for Linn please submit it to Linn via email and it may appear in our next edition of Nucleus News.
