Enjoying music: tips for better sound
Tips for getting the best musical sound
- Use direct audio input, such as a patch cable, to connect your audio component directly to your processor.
- Listen in rooms that are quiet.
- Listen in rooms that have good acoustics. Rooms with hard floors, no curtains, many windows, or few materials to absorb sound may cause an echo and distort sound.
- Try listening to music through “closed headphones.” Closed headphones have large ear cups that cover the implant’s microphone.
- Experiment with different volume settings on audio component and speech processor.
Use a Personal Audio Cable for battery-operated components:
- CD Players
- MP3 players (for example, Ipod)
- Cassette tape players
- Battery-operated televisions
- Hand-held computer games
- Laptop computers (when operating on battery power)
Use a TV/HiFi Cable for electrical or battery operated components. The TV/HiFi Cable has surge protection built into the cable, so it’s safe to connect to the headphone jack on electric components
- Home televisions
- Stereo systems
- Computers
- Mini amplifiers that connect to a TV or other audio components
