Telecoils

Delivering greater clarity for listening on the phone, to a movie, or to the stereo

A telecoil can provide the extra help you need to hear with more clarity and ease in a wide range of environments.

A telecoil is a miniature receiver that picks up magnetic sound signals from telecoil-compatible phones and assistive listening systems (ALS). In many situations, you may hear this magnetic signal a lot better than the acoustic signal from your speech processor’s microphone. In other words, a telecoil acts as an alternate or supplemental input device to your microphone.

There are many ways to use a telecoil:

  • With a telecoil-compatible phone.
  • In movie theaters, sports stadiums, churches, and lecture halls that have an induction loop system or infrared system.
  • With personal neckloops, telecoil-compatible headphones/headsets, Hatis®, or telecoil-compatible telephone and cell phone.

Cordless Telecoil

A small, wireless telecoil for ESPrit/ESPrit 22 BTE processors and ESPrit 3G/ESPrit 3G for N22 BTE processors (part number Z60422)

Requirements:

ESPrit/ESPrit 22 requires:

  • Audio cover (part number Z77156, Z77157 or Z77158)
ESPrit 3G / ESPrit 3G / N22 requires:
  • Accessory adapter – ESPrit 3G (part number Z60121)

Helpful Hint: Although the ESPrit 3G has a built-in telecoil, using Cordless Telecoil or ESPrit Telecoil with cable may improve signal strength when using a neckloop. Positioning the telecoil closer to the neckloop provides a stronger signal.
