Ask Linn: Tips for iPod and MP3
There are a variety of ways for Nucleus recipients to listen to tunes!
For Freedom Standard BTE and Freedom Bodyworn:
Patch cables can be used to connect adapter to accessory port on Freedom processor. Audio plug on cable connects to headphone jack on audio device.
Freedom Personal Audio Cable – for use with battery operated components only
Freedom TV HiFi Cable – Can be used with battery operated components or those using household electrical current
The following accessories may also be used:
- Headphones
- Telecoil Enabled accessories
- Silhouettes
- Neckloops
Telecoil Enabled Accessories – There are some great accessories that deliver sound through the telecoil. Switch to a program with T or TM and the telecoil accessory will deliver the sound from the audio player directly into the sound processor. Telecoil enabled accessories are great for listening to music during exercise as nothing needs to be connected to the processor itself.
Silhouettes – Place silhouette earpiece next to processor and switch to T or TM. Insert plug on end of silhouette into audio component. Silhouettes are available especially for use with audio players, in single or binaural styles:
- Single
- Binaural (for those with two hearing devices equipped with the telecoil feature)
Neckloop – Neckloops are also used in conjunction with the Telecoil feature. The neckloop is placed around the neck and the audio plug is connected to the headphone jack on the audio player. Switch to T or TM and adjust the volume control on the player and the neckloop. Look for businesses that carry neckloops.
